The International Society for Transforming Education has unveiled an expanded framework, “Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate,” aimed at aiding K-12 educators in teaching students how to effectively engage with artificial intelligence. This update, supported by the nonprofit Britebound, emphasizes not just basic AI literacy but also advanced skills necessary for various roles students should assume when interacting with AI tools. These roles include Learner, Researcher, Synthesizer, Problem Solver, Connector, and Storyteller.
Richard Culatta, CEO of the organization, highlighted the framework’s expansion, which now includes 30 specific skills aligned with these roles. Culatta emphasized that AI should be leveraged to enhance distinctly human abilities, making its integration in education more meaningful by illustrating its practical applications.
The new framework was introduced during the society’s annual conference held in Orlando, Florida, marking a year since the initial version was launched. While the initial framework concentrated primarily on technical aspects, the updated version presents detailed descriptions and practical examples for each role, targeting both middle and high school levels.
This initiative complements the ongoing efforts of educators, aligning with the society’s existing student standards and “Transformational Learning Principles.” The expanded Profile of an AI-Ready Graduate can be accessed as a free download, offering a practical guide for educators to integrate AI in a way that supports human-centric skills development.
