Unit 1: Exploring\u00a0One-Variable Data<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0be introduced to how statisticians approach variation and practice\u00a0representing\u00a0data, describing distributions of data, and drawing conclusions based on a theoretical distribution.<\/p>\n
Unit 2: Exploring Two-Variable Data<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0build on what\u00a0you\u2019ve\u00a0learned by\u00a0representing\u00a0two-variable data, comparing distributions, describing relationships between variables, and using models to make predictions.<\/p>\n
Unit 3: Collecting Data<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0be introduced to study design, including the importance of randomization.\u00a0You\u2019ll\u00a0understand how to interpret the results of well-designed studies to draw\u00a0appropriate conclusions\u00a0and generalizations.<\/p>\n
Unit 4: Functions Involving Parameters, Vectors, and Matrices<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0learn the fundamentals of probability and be introduced to the probability distributions that are the basis for statistical inference.<\/p>\n
Unit 5: Sampling Distributions<\/b><\/p>\n
As you build understanding of sampling distributions,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0lay the foundation for estimating characteristics of a population and quantifying confidence.<\/p>\n
Unit 6:\u00a0Inference\u00a0for Categorical Data: Proportions<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0learn inference procedures for proportions of a categorical variable, building a foundation of understanding of statistical inference, a concept\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0continue to explore throughout the course.<\/p>\n
Unit 7: Inference for Quantitative Data: Means<\/b><\/p>\n
Building on lessons learned about inference in Unit 6,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0learn to analyze quantitative data to make inferences about population means.<\/p>\n
Unit 8: Inference for Categorical Data: Chi-Square<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0learn about chi-square tests, which can be used when there are two or more categorical variables.<\/p>\n
Unit 9: Inference for Quantitative Data: Slopes<\/b><\/p>\n
You\u2019ll\u00a0understand that the slope of a regression model is not necessarily the true slope but is based on a single sample from a sampling distribution, and\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0learn how to construct confidence intervals and perform significance tests for this slope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
